Pascual Toso

Pascual Toso is a winery and vineyard in Las Barrancas, Maipú, Mendoza, producing wines since 1890. It is a house with history that today exports to almost 30 markets, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, Europe, Korea and Canada. In 2007 it received the Best Argentine Producer Trophy at the IWSC in London.

Visits and experiences

The winery opens its doors to tourism with several options, all including a complimentary guided visit. The Wine Garden is a relaxed experience in the garden, with views of the vineyard and the mountains, including a charcuterie board, Argentine empanadas, artisanal breads, olives and preserves, and one bottle of wine for every two people. Atardecer en Barrancas adds a tour of the winery, the vineyards and the cellar, and ends in the garden with an open-air food experience; the schedule changes between winter and summer. Fuegos & Vinos is a full-day experience, with lunch or dinner cooked over embers: empanadas, cuts of meat, vegetables roasted in the embers, a dessert of cheeses and sweets, with reserve-line wines and sparkling wine.

The terroir

Las Barrancas sits on the high plain of the Mendoza River, at about 750 meters above sea level. Pascual Toso owns more than 220 hectares. The terrain is uneven and drops about 7 meters, with soils of bare rock and deeper soils. The climate has warm days, cool nights, low humidity and plenty of sun, and irrigation comes from snowmelt from the Andes via the Mendoza River.
