Pizzería De Un Rincón De La Boca

De un Rincón de la Boca is a traditional pizzeria on Las Heras Avenue, in the City of Mendoza. It opened on April 15, 1944: it was founded by Arturo López, a porteño footballer who settled in Mendoza, and since then it has been run by his family, now in its third generation. The name pays tribute to the Buenos Aires neighborhood of La Boca and to the football club the founder supported.

The classic pizza

What sets it apart is the half-dough pizza, neither thin nor thick, with homemade sauce, mozzarella and the house chimichurri that many customers call "veneno" (poison). The dough recipe came from Buenos Aires, and the menu has more than 40 pizza varieties. They are also among the first to sell fainá in Mendoza, and they make beef empanadas and ham and cheese empanadas. Over the years they added lomos, barrolucos, hamburgers and milanesas (the napolitana is one of the most ordered), and for dessert there is homemade flan with dulce de leche and cream.

The place

It is a classic pizzeria, with no gourmet pretensions. It has a dining room, sidewalk tables and a counter, where you can grab a slice on the go with a chop (draft beer). Families, office workers and tourists come by, and on weekend nights it is usually full. During the day it also works as a café: they serve breakfast and afternoon snacks with medialunas, and the dining room shows football matches.

Location and practical information

It is right downtown, on Av. Las Heras, one of the best-known commercial avenues in the City and close to the Central Market. It opens from morning until late at night, and on Fridays and Saturdays it closes after midnight. It offers delivery and takeaway, and you can also order through Rappi. The brand had other locations in Greater Mendoza, but this listing is for the historic Las Heras branch.
