Pretextos Burger

Pretextos Burger is an American-style smash burger joint with a location in the City of Mendoza, on Juan B. Justo street. The brand was born at the end of 2021 in San Martín, in Mendoza's East, by Nicolás and Matías Lucero, and in just a few years it earned a place among the best-known burger spots in the province. Today it has two locations: San Martín and Capital.

The burgers

The offer focuses on smash burgers, pressed on the griddle, with double or triple patties and plenty of cheddar. The most famous is the Sweet Bet: double smash patty, double cheddar, a mix of sweet onion and honey mustard sauce. The menu also includes the Pretextos and the Fenix, which can be ordered triple, and all of them can come with fries.

Awards and recognition

At the Burgerpalusa 2025, the contest organized by The Food Truck Store, a panel of specialists chose the Sweet Bet as the best burger in the country. In addition, according to Time Out, Pretextos was the first burger joint from Mendoza invited to BurgerFest in Peru, one of the best-known festivals of its kind in Latin America.

On social media they present themselves with humor and a street-style aesthetic, and their followers are called "adictos a Pretextos" (Pretextos addicts). If you're in Capital, the Juan B. Justo location is closer than the San Martín one, which is about 45 kilometers away.
