Montecatini - Chacras de Coria

Review

Montecatini Chacras is an Italian restaurant in Chacras de Coria, Luján de Cuyo. It is the branch of the classic Montecatini, founded in 1965 by Italian immigrants Heriberto Porfiri, Nicola del Papa and Giuseppe Vanneschi on General Paz street, in downtown Mendoza. In 2022 the family left the location they had since 1997 in the Palmares shopping center and moved to their own property in Chacras' dining district.

Caruso-style capelettis and much more

The house specialty is the capelettis a la Caruso, a recipe that Montecatini created in 1967 and that made it known well beyond Mendoza. In 2017, together with its pasta factory D'Ancona, it earned a Guinness World Record for the largest pasta tasting in the world. Besides homemade pastas, both simple and filled, such as pumpkin sorrentinos, the menu includes red and white meats, fish, seafood, risottos and salads. For dessert there are classics such as tiramisu and flan. There are vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.

The place

It is a traditional restaurant, the kind people choose for family meals, celebrations or business lunches. It has a dining room and table service. It is a good choice if you want to try a dish with a lot of history in Mendoza's food scene, without going downtown.
