Cerro de la Gloria is a historic walking spot and lookout in General San Martín Park, in the City of Mendoza, Capital department. At its summit stands the Monument to the Army of the Andes.
In front of the monument is an equestrian statue of General San Martín, flanked on each side by a group of Granaderos a Caballo (mounted grenadiers). Around the base there are three friezes that depict the most important events in the formation of the liberating army.
You can visit on foot, either walking up the path that starts at the foot of the hill, along Avenida del Libertador. To get there, one option is to ask to be dropped off at the Portones del Parque (Park Gates) and choose the path up the hill from there. It's best to go during daylight, early in the morning or in the afternoon, and to bring water and a cap in summer.
According to a provincial educational source, it is open every day from 9 to 17 and there are guided visits. Since there may be occasional closures for events, it's a good idea to check before you go.
