## About Bodega Quimera

Bodega Quimera is the winery that Achaval Ferrer has in Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo, about 20 minutes from the city of Mendoza. Achaval Ferrer was founded in 1998 by a group of Argentine and Italian friends and became known for its high-end wines made from old vineyards, some dating back to the early 20th century. Besides the winery, Quimera Bistro, its gastronomic proposal, operates here.

## Wines and visits

You can ask about guided visits to the winery, which include a tour of the vineyards and a tasting of the house wines. Achaval Ferrer's wines are made by its oenology director, Gustavo Rearte, and they are the ones that accompany the restaurant's cuisine. Quimera is also the name of one of the winery's best-known wines.

## Quimera Bistro

The restaurant is on the first floor of the winery, in a bright room with a rustic yet modern style and a glass floor through which you can see the barrels on the ground floor. The proposal is a tasting menu with seasonal products, from its own garden and from local producers, always designed to pair with the house wines. It is recommended by the Michelin Guide and in 2026 it won the regional Best Of Wine Tourism award from Great Wine Capitals in the gastronomic experiences category. Since 2026, the kitchen is led by chef Julieta Argento.

## How to get there

The winery is on Calle Cochabamba, at the corner with Ruta 7, in the heart of the Agrelo wine region. You enter by a dirt road between the vineyards that ends in a park with a small lagoon with ducks, and from the winery there are views of the vineyards and the Andes.

The bistro opens at midday, and both for lunch and for visits it is best to book in advance.
